The Information Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) announced today that in a bid to engage with stakeholders in the industry it has established its secretariat offices in Lilongwe.

This comes after the association ushered in the new executive members, where it’s elected President promised among other things to establish permanent offices for its secretariat.
Speaking in an interview the publicity secretary said since the association’s AGM a lot has happened and that the secretariat offices is one developments.
ICTAM has played over the years an advisory role in the ICT policies and it is very important that we build the association if we are to re-present the professionals in this country but also in order to continue our
multistakeholderism advisory role to the government on issues of national development in as far as ICT is concerned noted Bram Fudzulani who is the association’s publicity secretary.

Information and Communication Technology Association of Malawi  (ICTAM) has presented it comments and recommendations on the Communications Act  review.

ICTAM presented its input to the Malawi Parliament through the chairman of the media and Communication committee.
Presenting their recommendation in Lilonhwe, ICTAM president Wisely Phiri who was flanked by the Association’s General Secretary Daud Suleman and Publicity Secretary Bram Fudzulani, asked the Parliament to amend the provision in the act that gives power to the minister to appoint Director General of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) and allow the authority to advertise the post and being interviewed by the Parliamentary Public Appointments Committee  who will recommend the right personel after interviews.
